Praying The Scriptures

Numbers 12-13 - Bible Study DailyFocal Passage:

“So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!””

Numbers 12:13

Sometimes the most effective prayer is the simplest prayer. If God is indeed all-knowing and ever-present, then God is aware of our circumstances at all times. When we have properly developed the habit of prayer, we learn to stop and pray immediately when circumstances require it. In fact, if we are wise, we will pray ahead of our circumstances, “Give us this day our daily bread, lead us not into temptation,” and so on.

Keep in mind that God is not a genii in a bottle. He does not grant our wishes, he tends to our needs and, sometimes, what we need is a lesson, or perhaps even a test. Sometimes we have to wait on the Lord, as in the case of Moses’ prayer above. Miriam had come down with leprosy when Moses prayed this prayer. Her leprosy was from the Lord, a lesson, to teach her respect for God’s servants. God answered Moses’ prayer, but only after Miriam was put out of the camp for seven days.

God is sovereign over all His creation. He rules over a Kingdom that is far too large for us to comprehend. He contends with situations that are far beyond the scope of our reality. His ways are often a mystery to us, an enigma. Nonetheless, we must learn to trust and obey no matter what may come. This world, this life, this bubble of time is but the tiniest, immeasurable fraction of what is soon to come. It is the entrance exam required of each of us to receive the promised reward of eternal peace and rest, in fellowship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who also suffered even though He is our King and our Creator.
