Signs

Wednesday: Be Careful of Your Hearts
”Be careful or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life… “

”Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple and each evening He went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives.“ On this day, after giving a long dissertation on the signs of the end of the age, He chose to warn the people about a coming, spiritual event. An event that the Apostle Paul has also warned of in his letter to the Romans. The scriptures in turn warn us of the same coming event that is, in fact, upon us at this time.

Jesus warned His crowds of followers, ”…and that day will close on you unexpectedly, like a trap.“

When you hear the ”SNAP!“ it will be too late. You must open your spiritual eyes wide and discern the times that you live in. God provided a perfect model of the end at the very beginning. In the book of Genesis, though Abraham had rightly chosen to stand away, God must come to rescue Lot and his family from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The keys to discernment lie right there. God has said, ”The righteous will live by faith. God’s wrath will be revealed from heaven against all godlessness and unrighteousness… For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God… Instead their thinking became nonsense and their senseless minds were darkened. And because they did not think it worthwhile to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong.“ Romans 1:17b – ff
As the walrus said, ”The time has come… “ You need only look around to see it, but this madness is empowered spiritually and unless you take up spiritual weapons, you too will easily succumb. You will fail to see the trap and step right into it. Jesus  said of this pouring out of depravity, ”For this will come upon all those who live upon the face of the whole earth.“

It will be like the rain that pours on the righteous and the unrighteous alike.
”Be always on the watch, pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.“
